Dim the device camera view. Possible?

Does anyone know of a way to dim the image/view that is coming from the device camera?

I'm working on an experience to show spare parts in AR an it can be hard to see some small parts as they don't stand out against the live image. If i could somehow reduce the brightness of the live image it would help these parts pop more.
