Accessing Workspaces Windchill 11.0

Hi all,

We are running Windchill 11.0 and I know it isn't supported anymore so figured I'd ask here. We had a user leave the company and are trying to access his workspaces etc to check back in all the work he had checked out. We have admin access both site and org level. We can also see his workspaces but we are unable to open them and it appears all we can do is delete them. Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this and how to fix it?

Thanks

If the user who left the company still has an account in Windchill, can you authenticate as them to access the workspaces?

They still have an account, sort of. They've been disabled in our on prem active directory but we can still see them in windchill. We thought about desynching the user from LDAP and setting the password manually but are concerned if that would mess something up. Do you think this could be a potential work around?

You should be able to just change his password and log in as him.  Or is it doing that automatically from the network?

We have it syncing with our on prem active directory currently and our infrastructure team is weary of sharing his password/reactivating his account. Could we just desync the user in windchill and setup a new password manually in windchill?

If de-syncing could be done it might just be a matter unchecking that box in their windchill profile.

What about their local workspace cache? Any modified files would only exist there if they were not uploaded which is on their local machine. There is a tool posted that can extract the modified files from the local workspace which is their modified files and return it to the actual file names. From there, you could simple undo the check out, take those modified files and have someone else re-check them in to capture the updates. How many checked out files are we talking about? Depending on where your workspaces are stored, you might need access their local workspace and profile if that is where workspaces were kept.

When this is done, go to your HR department or engineering management team and have them add an exit item for clean up Windchill before the employee can be cleared to leave. This has saved me many times when someone leaves who has Creo with Windchill. It is not so critical for those users who have just Windchill access.

The easiest solution is for the infrastructure team to reactivate the account with a new password, let a Windchill admin do the workspace cleanup and then deactivate the account again. Hopefully you have Upload with Save enabled in Windchill or you will have to do the check-in from that person's old workstation.
