base distinguished name for ldap users

We are installing Windchill pdmlink 12.1.2.0 on a brand new machine

 

What is the expected value for Base Distinguished name for ldap users

We tried ou=people,cn=AdministrativeLdap,cn=Windchill_12.1.2.0,o=ptc

but does not seem to work - is it syntatically wrong?

What is a correct format? or what is missing here please?

 

The LDAP user distinguished name we entered as cn=Manager and the password

We are stuck here

 

Since this is 12.1.2.0 there is no DS so we would be using a corporate ldap i believe.

 

any insight into this please

The answer is:

o=ptc

 

Keep in mind the PSI is asking for the “Base” Distinguished name. The base is the beginning of the name as it is read backward. It’s common to all names.

    So it depends... What are you using to pull your users from? (Including your admin user).  It is wherever the users exist in your new ldap solution - whether that is AD or OpenDJ etc.

     

    If you plan on pulling your users (including your admin user) from AD, it will be the base distinguished name for your active directory.

    • Something like dc=mycorp,dc=com (if your base DN has a subdomain like division, it might be dc=division,dc=mycorp,dc=com)

    If you are not installing by connecting to AD or another established ldap, you will need to install a solution like OpenDJ or an older version of Windchill DS ... and it will be the Base DN you use when you create the ldap schema.
