Can I share numbers between cad files and drawing files?

My company has used a parameter on creo files for a long time for the part number, and now that we are using PDMLink, we would like to use that for the windchill part number. The problem is, we use the same number for the part file and the drawing. Is there a way to allow the number to be shared between related documents?

To accomplish this you need to add a suffix to the drawing like .DRW. For example if your number for the part and drawing is 12345, you could use 12345 for the part and 12345.DRW for the drawing. If you wanted to, you could also use .PRT for the part. That way if you search for 12345*, it will show up in your search where as a suffix would not. We had to do this for our parts, assemblies and drawings when we migrated from Intralink.
