Curious folder paging observation

I was removing items from a folder which I currently have at the default
200 objects per page. So, I decided to use the select across pages
feature where I select all from page one, then go to page two and do the
same. I should have 400 items selected, right? Wrong. After wait for
page two to come up, I see that 12 items appear again from page one.
Huh? Sounds like a bug in caching the paged results.
