Custom Admin user

All,

I'm interested in giving a few super users some Admin capabilities.  I'm not completely sure how many permissions I want to give them.  I'm interested in the method someone might take to create such a user (I'm calling one Engineering Admin).  I don't think I want to add them to the Administrator's group.  I'm thinking a special group and use Profiles to achieve the permission set for them.   What do all of you think?
