Use Case: we would like to start representing the materials and process/notes from the drawings as objects in the bom and process/notes for assemblies as object. how can this be accomplished in windchill?

not sure what objects to use in the system to to start representing the materials and process/notes from the drawings as objects in the bom and process/notes for assemblies as object.

Can you add a bit more clarity around how you would like to manage material and notes? 

  • Is this related to CAD?
    • If so, which solution? 
  • Is the goal to link CAD properties to Windchill attributes? 
  • Do you want to manage materials as their own object type in Windchill?

yes this is related to CATIA and Solidworks we currently have notes in the face of the drawing and materials in the bill of materials on the drawings that come from cad model properties.  we would like to show them and reuse them as objects in the bill of materials structure so we can link to process plans and manufacturing bill of materials.  this will expose it in the digital thread and also allows to reuse and do where used, ect.
