Question
Edit Dynamic Documents from Windchill WebClient without ArborText
My team is evaluating WindChill in a sandbox environment and we also have ArborText 7 with Styler installed. The use case we are looking at is for a user who has access to the WindChill sandbox, but does not have ArborText installed. These would be people who have experience hand-editing DITA xml as well as for other DTDs.
Here are the steps that what we would like to do:
- Download a dynamic document as ASCII text without the using Arbortext as a proxy. We want to just download the text and open in a free text editor (e.g. notepad or notepadd++).
- Edit the document using the free text editor.
- Upload the edited document as a new version of the original dynamic document we downloaded on step 1.
This is something that is quite straightforward to do in a tool like SharePoint, but there is no obvious way in Windchill. Is it even possible to do what I am asking?
