Question

Geometry from another drawing was imported into the converted DRW drawing.

I am using Windchill PDMLink Release 12.0 (Datecode CPS 12.0.0.3). I encountered an issue during the .drw conversion process where the geometry from a *different* drawing was pulled in and converted into DWG and Creo View formats. While other drawings converted normally, this specific one incorporated content from another drawing. The converted filename matches the WT Part, but the actual file content corresponds to a different drawing. However, the drawing opens correctly when viewed in Creo. How can I identify and verify if other instances of this issue exist?

Thers not really enough info here to give you an accurate answer. but

  1. have you deleted the viewable and recreated it?
  2. have a look at the WTpart for related objects what is the link to the Drawing and the cad object? 
  3. What is the link between the cad and drawings, I have a feeling that this is where the problem may be. The drawing with the DWG may have the model in it, even though its not shown.

I apologize for not providing complete information earlier.


1. Generating a new one results in a proper drawing.
2. Both the Drawing (2D) and CAD (3D) files are correctly linked.
3. The association is properly set to ‘Calculated’.

 

Additionally, the CAD file opens correctly in Creo, and the linked CAD data remains valid when imported based on the saved state.

 

Essentially, this issue arose after a full batch reprocessing using the scheduler.
At that time, thousands of CAD files were reprocessed, and currently, it appears that only this specific 2D drawing is problematic.

 

However, since it is impossible to verify every single one of the thousands of CAD files, is there a way to identify which ones were derived from the problematic CAD, or is there a solution to this issue?
I no longer have the confidence that this won't happen again if I run the process once more...

Hi,

Interesting issue, If you could replicate this then it would be alot eaiser to solve it. / write a report to identify the problem.

I know this doesent help but it could just be a gremlin that decided to ruin your week and now that that achieved he has moved onto greener pastures.

I attempted to reproduce the issue, but I have concluded that it is difficult to do so.
It seems unlikely that this particular issue can be resolved.
