How to compare CAD Structures to BOM

Version: Windchill 12.0

 

Use Case: Work on a project to improve CAD quality.


Description:

While working on a project to improve our CAD quality, I found that some of our CAD structures don't match the BOM in windchill.

 

Ie the bolt PN changed in the BOM, but the CAD didn't get updated.

 

I have 1000s of items that need to be checked Is there any PCT tool that can do this?

Comparing structures can be difficult. You might be better off with queries and external tools. I would also suggest doing only single level BOM comparisons. You also mentioned that the part number of a bolt changed but the CAD did not. Was this a rename/renumber or a component swap out? If a rename, then the user would have to have included the CAD and propagated the change to it. See if they are still linked. You also want to extract data on if the CAD is associated to the Parts, what link type this is and if the build rules were manually broken.  This can be a big undertaking.
