How to expand groups in Members in Quick Links > Email page

I would like to expand the groups in the Members list to see, and select, the sub-groups in Quick Links > Email page.

At the moment I can only either select one of the groups directly under Members, or search for individual users. I can not expand the group in the Members list or search for a group.

If groups are listed under roles (like from a Team page), yes I can confirm the group is shows and the people inside are not searchable. I do not think there is an option to change this. I might recommend submitting a product idea.
