How to link a WTPart to another WTPart?

Is it possible to link a WTPart to another WTPart?

The scenario is for electrical connectors where a plug has its mating socket.

I don't see an out-of-the-box link for that, but I've heard of configurable links. Is that the way to go? Or is there a better way to capture the plug/socket relationship?

Configurable links are probably the right way, but please be aware, that the collections don't work. You need to control a save as, revise, etc. manually or by customization.

Build the completed unit as an assembly?

The structure will tie the parts together.

I appreciate the idea, but it's not ideal. A connector may end up being used in many assemblies. It would be hard to pick out which assembly was there just to show the desired link.
