Illegal value list in Attribute Constraint

Version: Windchill 12.0

Use Case: In my organization we have characters that we cannot use in the part number (not auto-generated). The list is way shorter then what the legal list is. We would like to constrain the attribute Number with an illegal value list.

Description:

Is there some way to revert the Legal value list to an illegal value list?KNielsen_0-1723535938764.png

How can we constrain the attribute in the most easy way?

Hi,

Windchill's Legal Value list is not directly applicable to the Part Number(If assigned manually).

Having said this, you need to fulfill that requirement via customization that gets initiated when you manually enter your part number.

In that customization you can do the logic on what "illegal Entries" are stopped.

There is no illegal Value list in windchill even for the attribute values., leave alone Part Number.

You may add this as a product idea., though I doubt if it becomes a standard function in future.

Cheers

Thank you for the answer Hari.

We are trying to stop customizing the system, but we would still like to help our users to reduce errors.

But is sounds like it is not possible in this aspect.
