Is it possible to perform a checkout from SolidWorks using the WWM Toolkit?

We are developing a custom tool for SolidWorks using the SolidWorks SDK. We are looking for a way to checkout a drawing from Windchill from this SolidWorks custom tool.

Can this be accomplished using the WindChill Workgroup Manager ToolKit?

I am new to Windchill/toolkit and have been looking thru the online documents for a clear answer and have not found one yet.
