Managed Baseline in Windchill

What's the use of the primary object icon which indicates that the selected object is the focus of the baseline. What purpose does it serve?

For us, we use baselines to store a specific configuration of an assembly. We mark the top level assembly as the primary object, to make it easier to identify. It also helps with reporting on some queries I've created.
