I am using Windchill PDMLink Release 11.0 and Datecode with CPS M030-CPS16

unable to upload CAD model.
The error message says, name has an upper limit of 200 characters.

According to PTC, Name is defined as a "short description".

Are you really entering a short description or a long description?

The upper limit for Name is 400 characters.  If your system is set to 200 characters, there is probably a good reason for it.  For example, Name gets passed to the ERP system and the ERP "Name" field is limited to 200 characters.

If you are the business administrator and there are no external drivers on the 200 character limit, then this article says how to extend the length of the attribute to the 400 character limit.

https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS406025

Name is not a Global Attribute and is tied into the Workgroup Manager.  Too much can go wrong by extending it's max length.

If Name goes beyond 400 characters, I would recommend creating/using a Global Attribute (e.g. DESCRIPTION).  Global Attributes (a.k.a. IBAs) have a max length of 4000 characters.

the 200 string length constraint is locked, i have created a new one but it does not help:

This is a database column constraint. There was an discussion about someone wanting to increase this a few days ago:

BTW, the image you showed filename. That is not the same as name field which is more for descriptive or a object's title.

Don't recommend you muck with this. 200 characters is more than an old style tweet. @mmeadows-3 is right that if you want to write a novel, use an IBA.
