Question

Not able to view thumbnail for the New CAD Document

I am using Windchill PDMLink Release 13.0 and Datecode with CPS 13.0.1.0 Hi Team, I have installed and integrated Windchill 13.0.1.0 with Creo 8.0.5.0, As I have created a New CAD document from, Creo but I was not able to see Thumbnail View for that particular PART

Where exactly in the UI are you looking to view the thumbnail?
Is your CAD Document published?

Windchill 13.0.1.0 is an out of date release as is Creo 8.0.5.0. In the product compatibility matrix for Creo 8.0.5.0, it only shows as working with Windchill up through Windchill 12.1.2.23. I would suggest updating your installation to newer supported version of Creo and Windchill.

Do you have the publishing configured to publish thumbnails with the primary object?

Thumbnails in Windchill come from WVS publishing, not from Creo itself. A new CAD document only gets a thumbnail after it is checked in and published into a representation. You can check two things:

  • Site > Utilities > Worker Agent Administration: is a Creo (PROE) CAD worker configured and running? You need Creo View Adapters installed for this.
  • WVS Job Monitor: did a publish job run for your part, and did it fail?

Workaround if you have no worker yet: client-side publishing. In Creo, go to File > Check In > Custom Check In and turn on uploading Models and Viewables. Creo will create the viewable on your machine and upload it, and the thumbnail will appear in Windchill.
