Persistable Adaptor Error

Hello,
I have a piece of code that needs to set a custom String attribute to specific values, however upon trying to set this attribute using the Persistable Adaptor I receive a Constraint Violation even though there are no listed constraints for this attribute on the Type and Attribute Manager. Are there any other unlisted constraints that could be throwing this?
