Problem using Setup Participants

I have created a team with 2 roles (Submitter and Approver) with each role having 2 users each(Submitter--> A and B Approver--> C and D).Then I am using this team in my workflow. In my workflow I am using 'SETUP-PARTICIPANT' activity where I am trying to set participant named 'A' but dont want 'B' to get the task(ie want to assign task to a specific user inthe role of the team).But it is assigning task to both 'A' an 'B' which I have assigned it in the role in team . What is the best way to use setup participants?

If you don't want to prepopulate and have the User set by Set Up Participants then don't populate the Roles. I have found that using Roles to prepopulate and then have the User remove participants in Set Up Participants seems to work well and is understood reasonably well bu most Users.
