Reference Documents vs Described By

Hello,

 

I am trying to understand the difference between "Described By" and "Reference Documents".

 

I referred to the below article which is clear but when I try to revise the document, the associate part is also getting revised both in case of describe by as well as in reference documents.

Please provide the reason why the part is also getting revised.Is there any preference configuration that I should be aware of ?

Confusion area for many people for many years...  The diagrams and explanations from PTC don't help much.

 

Only relates to WTDocuments related to WTParts.

From a WTPart, determines which version of the WTDocument is selected.
