I am using Windchill PDMLink Release 11.0 and Datecode with CPS M030-CPS19

How to establish a mapping relationship between sales options and design options in the system? What is the best practice?

You need to look at Options and Variants:

    https://support.ptc.com/help/wnc/r12.0.2.0/en/#page/Windchill_Help_Center%2FOptionsOVCapabOview.html

This is a link for Rev 12 but should be similar to 11. There should be similar pages in Rev 11 help guides.

    Hi,

Some years back, I too had an use case to link Sales Choice to Design Choices (Not Actually the Options).

I piloted one solution using Include Rules. You may want to go in that direction to check the feasiblility.

    Best Regards

    Hello @Hari_Vara ,

Would you tell more about how to make links between sales options and design options ?

I have the same confusion with sales and design options,
In windchill sales and design options both can generate a new BOM,

But what are differences between them?

    Hello Sulibo,

Design Option and Sales Option are just Subtypes of the Parent Type "Option". By default in Windchill, Sales Option is set as Hidden and non-Instantiable. You can easily turn it ON in "Type and Attribute Management".

On the functionality, its just how you want to offer the product Variability to Customer (Sales option) and Internal Product Configuration (Design Option).

For Example, For a Sales Point of View, it can be just a simple "Base", "Delux" or "Premium" Variant, but internally (Design), the Option will mean a "Technical Solution" where Base can mean as 1.1 Litre Engine, , "Delux" can mean a "1.1 Litre Engine with Turbo" and "Premium" can mean "1.3 Litre Engine with Turbo and Auto Transmission".

Please explore the include Rules, after turning ON the Sales Option Subtype.

    Best Regards

    Hari
