Use Case: I wanted to check if someone have implemented Windchill Partslink with Electrical parts and how was the experience ?

Can Windchill be used as a catalogue management tool? Does anyone have sample classification structures ? what were the challenges faced or any shortcomings of the tool based on your experience?
I have created electrical parts with our implementation. We break at stop naturally between Mechanical and Electrical. The nodes below that can vary but my folks wanted nodes which divided military vs commercials part numbers. This ended up duplicating nodes but it was used for folder browsing in Capture CIS. We have PartsLink driving those libraries from Windchill. Overall experience is good but you have to balance nodes, attributes and the users expectations. It should be an intuitive flow as you traverse so they do not have to go down a branch and then back up to look at another one.
Challenges are that electrical attributes can be vast and you need a good source to load in good data. Recommend using attributes with units and create a special system of measure for Electrical Engineers if you need to. Other areas were that you have to deal with the parts that fall in between (electro-mechanical parts) and the focus was only on board level components, leaving cables, wire and connectors not very well defined.
