"Thin" Development Workstation?

Hi,

Can anyone offer some good options to facilitate (both client and server-side) Windchill Java development in an organization that doesn't allow / encourage developers to have their own Windchill workstation?

Some specific questions include:

1. What's the cleanest way to bundle the minimum "client side jars" etc. that are needed for development / testing client (non-applet) applications?
2. What should be the standard "connection prologue" in client apps enabling the easy selection of which Windchill server to connect to (i.e., not to replace a local copy of "wt.properties")
3. How to organize & manage client environments when servers span several different Windchill (at least datecode) versions?

We're an Eclipse shop, so that will "color" our ability to apply suggestions.
