Question

Transformation matrix in CADBOM with respect to top-level assembly

We understood that the translation vector(positional shift) and rotation vector(orientation) is relative to its immediate parent assembly.

However, we want to understand the attributes in CADBOM or columns in epmmemberlink table that represent the transformation values with respect to top-level assembly. In Teamcenter, this is represented by Absolute Transformation Matrix.

Absolute Transformation Matrix Definiton : It represents the transformation from the component's local coordinate system to the global coordinate system of the top-level assembly. This matrix determines where the component is located in 3D space within the overall structure.

Thanks in advance

Hi @NP_10570407

Thank you for your question!

I’d like to recommend to bring more details and context to your initial inquiry. For example:

  • Can you confirm that the translation and rotation vectors you mentioned are relative to the immediate parent assembly?
  • Are there specific attributes or columns in the CADBOM or epmmemberlink table that you suspect might represent transformation values with respect to the top-level assembly?
  • How do you currently interpret the Absolute Transformation Matrix in Teamcenter? Are there specific attributes or methods you use to derive it?

Please add screenshot(s) to better understand what you are trying to do in your process.
