Variant part doesn't update when `Update Selected Module Variant` is selected

We’re starting to use options and variants and a use case we want is that when we update parts in the overloaded BOM at the sub-assembly level, the subsequent reconfiguring of the Variant Spec updates the related variants that use those sub-assemblies. 

 

As it stands, we get new variants created.

Hello  when you update the 150% BOM does the structure also get updated or just attributes ? on reconfigure do  you see existing variants as matching one ?

If you would re-use the existing sub assembly parts, those would be subject to change without notice in all previous assemblies. While there are other areas in PTC Windchill with a similar impact (e.g., part structures always use the latest version), it wouldn’t be my preferred behaviour.

Perhaps you could elaborate on the reasons why you would prefer for PTC Windchill to update those parts.
