why windchill use vault?

Hi

windchill has default vault, in my case path is "D:\ptc\Windchill_10.2_M030\Windchill\vaults\defaultuploadrootfolder"

 

and i create new master and folder.that path is C:\root_master_folder

 

after that i create new storage rule
storage rule was file that Domain is 'demo org' and type is 'EPMDocument' and status 'all'
file go to new vault

 

but it look like there is no difference
cause default vault and created vault size same

 

Configure vault to speed up windchill by reducing the size of the BLOB in the database
Is not it?
What is the purpose of using vault?

All files go through the upload vault before going to their final location.

Initially they will be the same, until you do a Remove Unreferenced Files on the upload folder.

That will delete all files that have been moved and the sizes will be different.

All files go through the upload vault before going to their final location.

Initially they will be the same, until you do a Remove Unreferenced Files on the upload folder.

That will delete all files that have been moved and the sizes will be different.

    Not necessarily.  If "wt.fv.forceContentToVault" is set to "true", content will bypass the default cache vault and move directly to the master vault.  See CS68929 for more info.
