Question

Why Workgroup Manager is needed for SolidWorks still on Windchill 13.1.2.0

I am using Windchill PDMLink Release 13.1 and Datecode with CPS 13.1.2.0 Why Workgroup Manager is needed for Solidworks? As observed Creo don't need the WGM any longer. Impact is with WGM it takes a lot of time, without WGM it is significantly faster for big assemblies. If we can have a quick call with PDMLink and CAD integration team to answer the follow up question it will be great. This is not urgent.

This is worded like a support query but you have posted this to the PTC community.

The interface (WGM) between Creo and WIndchill is built into WIndchill. The WGM handles the file types that SolidWorks uses and allows them to be lined within WIndchill.

A Work Group Manager is required for ALL CAD systems that interface with Windchill, just the Creo one is imbedded in the code.
