windchill DS 11.2.1 installation is getting failed

I am using Windchill PDMLink Release 11.2 and Datecode with CPS 11.2.1.0

we are doing upgrade from Windchill 11.1 to Windchill 12.1.2, and we are doing pre-Upgrade validation, we are installing windchill_DS 11.2 for windchill 12.1 , but windchill DS installation getting failed , so I am Unable to proceed further.

Here are the errors that I faced
The installation is aborting due to an unexpected error.

I am not sure if this is specifically the cause but check that firewalls are open:

If you can send more of the log that might be helpful.

Make sure the exe isn't blocked... Also, I have seen other folks have issues based on the version of Java they have installed... Try running a command prompt as admin and launch the installer from that

Could you provide the error trace ? It could be due to a java version error.

Which operating system?  Windows Server 2022 has some special requirements to get the old Windchill DS to install correctly.

Windchill DS 11.2 requires Java_Home set to Java 11.

Windchill DS 11.2 requires LAX_VM set to Java 8.

Install 8 first, then 11.

Use RegEdit to modify the LAX_VM to Java 8. It is set in 2 keys.

  1.       Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ System\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\Environment
  2.       Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ System\ControlSet002\Control\Session Manager\Environment

Relog, then do your Windchill DS install.

 

This works on both Windows 2016 and 2019, not sure of 2022.

You don't actually have to 'install' Java, it's just needs to be somewhere on disk and have a couple of environment variables set.  No registry editing is required.  PTC's installer for Windchill DS's needs Oracle's version of Java 8.  It will not work with Amazon Corretto.

Windchill DS absolutely will run with Amazon Corretto. Been using it entirely since Windchill 11.2 - and used it (Java 11) to install Windchill DS 11.2 to Upgrade to 12.0.2.
