Windchill, Is it PDM or PLM

I am using Windchill PDMLink Release 12.0 and Datecode with CPS 12.0.0.0

Hi,

I have very basic question about windchill.

If windchill is PLM tool then why it is called as PDM link.
Suppose if I installed only windchill PDM link then windchill is considered as PDM tool?

Windchill PDMLink is still PLM system.

Windchill is the underlying platform enabling the PLM process. On top of this you can have different modules like, PDMLink, MPMLink, PartsLink and supplier management and so on. PDMLink provides you with core data management capabilities like CAD data management, document management. Remember PDM is a sub-set of PLM.
