Windchill performance and usability on a Mac (Apple) computer.

We havea lot of users who would love to switch to Macs, but aren't sure if it is possible to load even view drawings/models on anything besides a Windows based machine. Does anyone have any experience with the Apple line and Windchill?

The guys I have seen running Macs are dual booting. They run windows for business and Mac for personal. However the additional IT resources for support/software and effort to get it to play nice with an advanced network, plus the exorbitant cost of a high end engineering machine greatly outweigh the benefits.

Melissa,

PTC has just started to support Mac OS X clients at Windchill
10.1. There are still a few missing pieces though, like Creo
View and desktop integration.

But based on the viewing capabilities in the Windchill mobile
app, which runs on iOS I would imagine that some sort of Creo
View capability for Macs may be in the cards at some point.
But that is of course purely speculation on my part. Or
perhaps a bit of wishful thinking 🙂

I have been using a Mac for Windchill development for several
years. Completely unsupported of course. While there are some
shortcomings, there are also some advantages...
