Windchill - Renaming Issues

I'm having issues with Windchill randomly booting me out of the renaming process of my files.

More specifically, I'm trying to rename a list of new files in my Workspace before checking them in. When I start renaming them, Windchill will suddenly and without warning boot me out of the process which forces me to redo it again. It's getting really frustrating. I'm trying to replicate the issue. It seems using a combination of the Shift and Space keys on your keyboard seems to trigger it.

Anyone else ever have this problem?

We use the embedded browser in Creo. I did a little quick testing and one thing I noticed was that if you're using tab to switch between cells, it may be possible to highlight the OK or Cancel buttons. When highlighted, space will activate them.

Any page refresh (F5) will also mess up the rename. In Chrome, alt+left will go back a page. That shortcut doesn't seem to work in Creo though.

So you mentioned a few things. I assume you are either using Creo and are in a workspace or the WGM? Which is it? Are these new CAD objects that have not been uploaded yet? Screen shots if you could but protect your data. Please detail the exact steps and setup and perhaps someone else can try to replicate it.

Softwrae versions of Creo and Windchill might help point to a solution.

@avillanueva @BenLoosli @joe_morton

Here are the current versions of Creo and Windchill I'm using below.

Creo Version 9.0.7.0

Windchill Release 12.0.2.11

I'm not able to replicate and snapshot a picture of the glitch unfortunately. These are all new components. I've been doing my renaming sessions in my Workspace in Windchill. I'll try to do my renaming in the browser version such as Chrome and see if I have the same issue.

Thanks,

But you can replicate the issue easily? You also mentioned these are new components so they have not been uploaded. This rename can only be done in the workspace. Is there a situation were you are renaming one item become the other and visa versa? For example rename A to be B and B to be A? Is it also possible to do this one by one?

I just ran on this issue renaming a huge number of parts. after having the issue few times, I started testing.

Basically if I press the keyboard T key on any part of the browser, it updates the page without asking anything. If you’re typing something on a textbox it’s fine, but if you click somewhere else and hit the T key, it will update.

So the issue was that I thought I was typing the new name of the part, which includes a T, but was not typing anywhere and updated the page when pressed the T. It happens on any other website too, so it’s not a Windchill shortcut glitch.
