Windchill Shell / Adding Data Formats in SSO ENV

Version: Windchill 12.1

 

Use Case: I had to add/update the data formats .mp4 .avi .. to the existing formats "MPEG Movie Clip"


Description:

When i follow the guide "Updating Data Formats" in the Help:

Enter the following command to update an existing data format:
java wt.content.DataFormatUtil -update

In a environment with SSO i don't get the "Authorization Request" i can't turn off the SSO in this env.
So the guide is not working with SSO for me

Is there another workaround except turn off SSO ?

It depends on how you have SSO configured.  The Windchill command is just Java with a wrapper.  Generally, we can substitute 'windchill' for 'java' anywhere PTC a Windchill shell.  Then follow this article for passing the SSO username.

Use windchill --javaargs="-Dwt.auth.trustedAuth.username=username" wt.content.DataFormatUtil -update

 

There are a few other tricks if that doesn't work.
