Windchill Workflow Migration

Version: Windchill 12.0

Use Case: Requirement is Windchill to Windchill Data Migration. Using WBM for this migration. Client wants the Workflow processes to be migrated. Objects having WFs are Parts, Documents, Change Objects.

Description:

Hi,

As the requirement is to migrate the Workflows from Source Windchill (WC 12.0) to Target (WC 12.0), but using WBM for WF Process migration has the following limitations:

i. Only the Workflows defined from latest iteration of WF Templates considered by WBM

ii. Manually populating the "mapping.xml" file with Target IDA2A2 value. This is time consuming (especially during the Production Cut-over) and also prone to manual errors.

Due to the above limitations, is it feasible to migrate the WF Processes through WBM? If so, can you please suggest some strategies to do so.

If not through WBM, please suggest alternate approaches to migrate the WF Processes.

Please provide your suggestions. @windchill

I'm highly thankful for strategies and code samples (if applicable).

Thanks.

Regards,

It sounds like the customer wants to have the full history of all changes for the Workflow Templates?

I'm not sure if it does multiple versions easily, but you may want to look into the Business Administrative Change Utility:  https://support.ptc.com/help/windchill/r13.1.0.0/en/index.html#page/Windchill_Help_Center/busadminchgprom/BACUtility.html
