Collecting Configurable Links

Version: Windchill 12.1

 

Use Case: I am trying to implement Configurable Link Collection Sample UI


Description:

Configurable Link Collection Sample UI 
I am trying to implement Configurable Link Collection Sample UI, and followed all the steps mentioned in the support.
the SampleConfigurableLinksCollectionDefinitions.xml files and SampleConfigurableLinksCollectionExecutionOrder.xml are there, and also com.ptc.core.collection.show.configurable.links.ui=true in wt.properties

the article in 12.0  Configurable Link Collection Sample UI 12.0 does mention to load the preferences manually, whereas the article in 12.1 Configurable Link Collection Sample UI 12.1 does NOT mention to load the preferences manually. 
I tried both ways, and I'm still not seeing the icons/preferences

Any suggestions on how to proceed further?
