How to automatically generate numbers from attribute values?

Hi,

I referenced CS110198 to see how to use a date formatted value as a suffix/prefix for a number.

A mandatory field "DOC_CODE" exists when creating a document.
I want to return the suffix of a number based on the value of DOC_CODE.

How can I change the suffix of the number according to the value of the document attribute (DOC_CODE)?
