How to create Prefix or suffix drop down list to autogenerated number for WT Document

exactly , just make sure to also look at https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS31342 for adding the attribute to be checked by OIR and related constraints

Hello Community,

I have created a custom WTDocument subtype where the Document Number is auto-generated using an OIR.
Now I want to extend this so that the user can select a prefix from a drop-down list (e.g., three predefined values) when creating the document.

  • I already created a new soft type attribute (String, with enumerated values as a drop-down).

  • The attribute is visible in the create wizard.

  • My question is: How can I use the selected prefix attribute value in the OIR Number rule so that it becomes part of the auto-generated number?

I am creating the WT Document from the Product context in Windchill PDMLink using the standard web UI (browser).

 

  • Is the WT Document part of a workflow or form submission process?

No, there is no custom workflow or form submission involved. The WT Document follows the default Windchill workflow, and we create it directly from the standard Create Document wizard.
