Every time I'm in my Windchill I try to open a part through CREO view it opens with my chrome browser, would it be possible to leave the EDGE browser as the default? I've already set it as the default in Windows and nothing.

Set config.pro option windows_browser_type as desired : ie_browser, mozilla_based_browser or chromium_browser

But this shows that Edge is not supported

  • Creo Parametric and Windchill Workgroup Manager:
    • Not available as embedded browser
      • Due to limitation from Microsoft Edge not allowing embedding in 3rd party applications
      • PTC will certify as embedded browser for Creo Parametric and Windchill Workgroup Manager, once embedding is made available

Sorry I am missing something here. Are you in Windchill edge browser and try to open CAD through creo view ?

Could you please give more details ?

  • As of CREO12 the edge browser is supported windows_browser_type edge_browser and we have been using it for the last 3 weeks. I have set it in the config.sup so it is forced for all users. the reason for this is that the edge browser is regularly patched by our IT for security vulnerabilities so one less thing to worry about. since switching we have had a few reports of workspace freezing but can be resolved by going offline and back online again.
