Is it possible to disable navigator from expanding, while a custom action is performed?

Hello everyone. I have an OOTB requirement of providing one of our client a custom action, where in while I perform a particular action in quick links the navigator should be disabled i.e it should not expand even if I try to expand. Is it possible to achieve this?
