Question

Load behavior of obsolete items into the workspace - Creo Elements Direct Modeling

Version: Windchill 12.0

Use Case: Items set to obsolete can't be shown in the Workspace. They are also not visible in Creo Elements Direct Modeling.

Description:

I can't find the setting for obsolete items downloaded to the workspace.

We've got a Standard context where obsolete items are shown and visible.

And we've got a Engineerings context where obsolete items are not shown and not visible for our users.

I would like to change that behavior.

Hi @ptc-3107806

Thank you for your question!

I’d like to recommend to bring more details and context to your initial inquiry. For example:

  • Are there any specific error messages or indications when obsolete items are not shown in the Engineering context?
  • What are the key differences in configuration between the Standard context (where obsolete items are visible) and the Engineering context?

Please add screenshot(s) to better understand what you are trying to do in your process.

Please refer to this guideline to make your questions more likely to receive a quick and useful answer.

This sounds like a question for your Windchill administrator. "ACLs" control what actions the user can do with data in various states. It sounds like some actions are not allowed for Obsolete files, like maybe download.

Hello Joe,

I've looked into the acces control rules. I've changed the acces for "Mechanical Part" and "MCAD Document" to Read, Download.

Problem is, I still can't find obsolete items if I use the search option in Windchill.

One little sidenote, for both context, obsolete items are not shown and visible.

Check the ACLs specifically in your Engineering Context, since it seems that's where the issue is. You may have an ACL that is denying some access.
