Sending a logged in user an error message from a filter

I am using Windchill PDMLink Release 12.1 and Datecode with CPS 12.1.0.0

Hi Guys,

We are implementing a custom filter for document encryption for this implementation guideline; https://support.ptc.com/help/wnc/r12.1.0.0/en/index.html#page/Windchill_Help_Center/customization/WCCG_Serv_EncryptionFilter_JavaInterfaceImplementation.html

Our encryption is done by an external SOAP based service.

We would like to send and error message to the user logged on to PTC Windchill in the event that this external service is not available to encrypt the message.

How can we do this?
