Set WTPart number to drawing/model name

Version: Windchill 12.1

Use Case: Uploading CAD documents generates a sequence (00001234) number instead of name.

Description:

Our windchill system has always been setup such that any files that dont auto associate to existing parts are assigned a 10 digit sequential number. How do I change it so that files checked in are are given a number the same as the model - ASM001.asm associates to a part with the number ASM001 instead of 00001234?

You need to change the Object Initialization Rules to remove auto-numbering.

How to turn on/off the Autonumbering for object types in Windchill PDMLink

In the site preferences, there are a number of preferences that control how numbering is mapped for CAD files, dropping extensions and mapping to the WTParts.

I set the preferences, but I couldn't get the autonumbering to disable.

I looked at that article, but my OIR looks like its different and the code to comment out doesn't exist?

Edit: Nevermind - I was editing the wrong "Number" section. All is working now!
