Question

Windchill - SolidWorks: Wrong Attribute assignment

I am using Windchill PDMLink Release 12.0 and Datecode with CPS 12.0.2.26 If a SolidWorks custom propertiy is existing with the same name like the Windchill attribute, than the value of the "Windchill name Attribute" will updated in the SolidWorks file - the mapped SolidWorks custom property will be ignored. If the "Windchill name Attribute" is NOT existing in the SolidWorks file, than the mapped SolidWorks custom property will be updated correctly. We want the assigned SolidWorks custom property to always be updated — not the "Windchill name Attribute" attribute. The questions need to be answered: How to force Windchill / Windchill Workgroup Manager to assign the correct mapped property ?

This is the documentation section regarding configuring attributes in Windchill: https://support.ptc.com/help/windchill/r13.0.2.0/en/#page/Windchill_Help_Center/WWGMforSolidWorks/WWGMSWAdminConfigAttribs.html# While this happens to be r13, I don’t recall from the release notes that anything’s changed from r12.

It sounds like you’re asking about Explicit Parameter to attribute mapping. You also have to be careful about the difference Windchill system attributes (these are ones that Windchill control and will always overwrite in SW) and custom parameters.
