Publish CAD Objects from Thingworx

Hi, 

 

Is there any custom API or way to publish the required cad files to get the additional representation from thingworx.

 

If any please help me to achieve this.

Hi @PEHOWE 

 

For Example, take a cad part/asm/drw which contain any additional files (1), will appear in the view design files (2)

in my case the file is released and doesn't contain the additional files, I need an option to publish the file to get additional files for the specific cad part/asm/drw.

Snaps are shown for understanding purpose with OOTB apps, but we have a custom application built with similar kind of function. we need to implement the trigger/start creating representation for files that don't have the additional files from thingworx.

Hello @Keerthivarman ,

This is a question which needs to be directed at the Windchill Customization or Visualization teams.
Because there is already a service which is getting the first file, Making a copy of the service and changing the file identification information should return a second file. How that would be presented in the UI would need to be addressed.

In regards to testing the REST API call which gets the file, the tool POSTMAN allows you to test a request. The error messages are much more informative then what is provided in ThingWorx. Once you have the parameters verified, putting them into the ThingWorx Service is simpler.

 

Please let me know what information you need to move forward on this issue.

Getting all file content (representations) from windchill using REST API is currently available but what I need here is that I need to trigger the publishing (create new representation) option from Thingworx side.

In your last message, you indicated that you need to "trigger the publishing (create new representation) option"
Because I am unfamiliar with your environment, What change is the "trigger"? There needs to be some change to watch for or starts the process. Can you provide any details?
