24th level sub assembly

Has anyone come up against an issue when working with an assembly file to the 24th level and beyond? It appears that Pro/E won't go beyond 24 sub assemblies deep. You can't select features by picking on screen or model tree past the 24th level. Any experiences, thoughts, work a rounds?

    Tim,

    In Pro/TOOLKIT, the data structures for assembly depth have 25 elements, at
    least through WF5. I would think this is a hard limitation in the current
    Pro/E.

    I created an assembly 25 levels deep, using WF5.

    If I add one more level, upon selecting an element in the model tree, proe
    (xtop) crashes to the desktop.





    Looks like a limit in the code somewhere.

    I tried this using WF5, datecode M020.

    Not much help, but I can confirm the issue.

    24th level sub-assembly ?
    I am the only one that think that this is not realistic ?
    Really do you think that PCT has to spend his time to manage
    100th lever deeper assembly,
    instead of doing something more usefull ??

    All of you daily are fighting with 24th deeper assembly ?
    I think that this is like to insert the key in your house's door
    whike you are sitting on your car....

    I can think of a few companies (ahem ahem) that might possibly have run into this issue a time or two.

    And we have garage door openers attached to the tractors; no keys required.

    Greetings

    The limit on depth of assembly is a matter of judgement and specification. The crash on violating the limit is sloppy coding.

    So, I'm curious (but not curious enough to actually try it), is this an
    actual limit on the number of levels in the assembly or a limit on the
    depth of what you can access within an assembly? In other words, can I
    create an assy with 100 levels as long as I don't try to edit a feature
    or component, from within it, father down than 24? I can always open
    the sub assys and change things from there.

    What happens if you create a 24 level deep assy and assemble it into
    the 23rd level of another assy?

    I can imagine that John Deere or Caterpillar, two big Pro|E users, have
    hit this limit many times when pulling up top level vehicle assemblies.
