3D free viewer

Hi alls,

I'll need to work with a new customer.
I would like to give them 3D files but they don't have any Cad software.
I assume they have standard computers.

So does anyone can tell us what would be a good solution as a free CAD or 3D viewer ?
I could sent them Proe files, Iges, Step, Vrml... any standard file formats.

I typically save the files as PDF U3D. This can be opened with Adobe
reader. I've never tried measuring anything but it works to spin and
zoom, etc. You can hide components of assemblies etc.

I purchased a copy of the eDrawings Publisher for about $450 a couple of
years ago. I am able to provide my clients with beautiful eDrawings that
they can view using the FREE eDrawings Viewer. It works great with Pro|E
Wildfire 5.0.

Embedding U3D in PDF documents was very elegant but Adobe have dropped support for it in latest Acrobat so it is a blind alley.

Hi Folks,
We use eDrawings too but I am wondering why nobody mentions ProductView 🙂
(sorry Creo View MCAD)

Must get around to that one day especially since we have licences.

It's been replaced by Creo View Express now. It's a free download and well worth trying. It has great measuring tools, has dynamic cross sectioning and interference check. It can open native Pro files and you can save a .pbz file (it's native format) from Pro and, with some configuration, open it in the viewer and have view states and simplified reps accessible.

Our company was looking for a universal 3D viewer that worked for Pro/E and SolidWorks. Unfortunately, nothing works well for both. Edrawings (SolidWorks product)does open Pro/E part and assembly files, but not drawings. Creo Viewer does not open any SolidWorks files to my knowledge.

The free Deep View from the website does open a few 3D formats, but not many standard ones. The only two formats I could export from Pro/E that Deep View could open were Invertor (IV) and Wavefront (OBJ). Pro/E, IGES, STEP, or VRMLare not supported by Deep View. Is there another free product from RightHemisphere that does support these file types?
