appearance - wood class

Hello,


I am trying to make some "custom" wood colors in the Model Appearance Editor. If I select the Wood Class, the only thing that changes is the base color. Does anyone have a good link or resource to explain how to make wood "colors"? It looks like you can customize the ring colors, scale, rotaton and ect., but I can't seem to change these.


FYI - I know there are better rendering software packages out there like KeyShot, but I need to make drawings with dimensions and etc that sorta look like the real product.

Adding an image to color makes it look better:



Do an google image search for the wood species you want. I did oak and
found this image and used it as the map.

Hello Jim,

I have thought about the Texture/Bump map options, but they seem to come in pixelated. What's the trick to have good resolution? Can you also rotate and scale the images in Pro/E or is that something you need to prep outside via Adobe or something?

It's moved around a bit since I did most of my rendering (earlier WF),
but in Creo 2, you can apply the texture to a surface, then in the
Render tab:



Edit Model Appearance. Then select the picker



Pick the surface that you applied the color to and then you can modify
the color texture on the map tab. Click on the icon to the right:



Then you can spin the dials to move the image around, create multiple
images or one, etc. Depending on your source image, you need to be
careful on how the image tiles. My image doesn't tile well:



If I stretch it to the full part, it look better:



There may be easier ways, but with my quick dabbling with it, this is
what I found works. Render in Pro/E has never been it's strong suit but
it is included and with some experimentation, you can get pretty good
results.
