Are default simplified representations available in all models

I am using Creo Parametric Release 10.0 and Datecode10.0.7.0

I have a user asking about defining a default simplified representation in a non-assembly model, is there a default simplified representation in non-assembly models? I have not been able to find default simplified representations in anything but assembly models.

    Note that in part mode it appears that you can create a "default" representation for a part. You can see here the option to set the feature inclusion in a rep to default which implies that you may be able to add this rep to your start parts if required. You can name a rep "Default" when created with this default function to get what your user is looking for. You should test this in a start part to see if it functions as desired.

    What type of non-assembly file are you referring to? In part mode simplified reps are available in Creo 10. They will be found in the view tab->view manager->simplified rep tab.

     

    Or are you asking why in a part is the default rep not present? If this is the question, I don't know why a default rep is not present in a part. I suspect it is because it is not needed in the context of a part since all features are available when opening a part file and would serve as the basis for the creation of any new representations. In an assembly being able to revert to a "basis state" (default rep) was deemed important due to the potential inherent hierarchy and complexity in assemblies.

        Like @tbraxton implies, it is essential that we agree on terms. 
        What do you mean by "default representation in a non-asm model" ?

        Describe the commands that the user is missing out.

        Is the user extrapolating some commands from the asm mode to another mode ? part mode ?

        If yes what commands ?
