OK, I must be brain dead. In my defense, it has been a very long time since I have tried this.


I am needing to import some STEP files. I want to enable ATB on these files since I know that there will be updates coming later.



If I go to Utilities, Import Profile Editor I see that ATB is enabled.


I see that there are several ATB config options but these seem to be targeted for updates. I turned all of them to YES just to be sure. I also added the path to the folder where I put the stp files.



When I import, I don't see any option for ATB in the import dialog. Once imported, I don't see any icon telling me that this is an ATB feature.


Any attempt to update gives me the message that there are no ATB features.


I am sure that I am just missing one option or pick that is probably right in front of my face. I did open a call with PTC and am waiting fora reply.


Creo Parametric2.0 M120 on Windows 7 x64.

Here is my summary. Thank you for all the input on this subject.



It turns out that ATB does not work on imported data such as STEP or IGES. It must be a granite based or certain other sofware programs. LIcense for ATB SolidWorks (Collaboration_Ext_SolidWorks) is not available. ATB operations are going to be ignored.

So I am unsure how reading a native SolidWorks is suppose to help with my designs. I guess you don't need to export the STEP file but all you getis an import feature. Without the ATB I am not able to update the part is changes occur. I was hoping that the file would just be read from a disk or workspace and could be used in an assembly. I have not played around with PDMLink enough to know how all of this will work there. If I have ATB, do I need to retain the original file? If so,will I need the SolidWorks Workgroup manager?


I am getting way off topic here.

First off, not all of the Unite stuff is in the product is actually there until Creo 3.0 M030. Next the stuff Ron is talking about deals with the "collaboration" portion which also includes saving back to the Solidworks model or saving something out to Solidworks. That requires the extension. Think Light vs. Heavy.
