Hello

 

I came across cosmetic thread on extrude cut feature. I would like to know what is purpose of cosmetic feature?

Can I directly use threaded hole instead of extrude cut and cosmetic thread?

Cosmetic threads, both internal and external, are based on drafting standard to show thread representations on drawings (and models) without actually having to draw (or model) the actual geometry. 

You can refer to ASME Y14.6 for a more detailed explanation.
