Creo 2 color.map file...

Seems moving from WF4 to Creo 2 didn't go so well for my old color.map file. Either thator itgot lost "in the move".Used to be a fairly straightforward set of colors in shade order from lighter to darker in series with the first dozen or so just basic colors; red, green, blue, brown... Kind of like the colors you get from a 24 count box of crayola crayons sitting on top of a 96 count box... Very easy to use. Start with the simple color, and move on to shades of these ifneeded. Anyone have a "Creo approved" version of something similar? Or even just a "good" one?

Ron,

Thanx for the file. I had the same issue as Paul. I was able to open these is my Appearances Manager but they do not appear by default. Does anyone know how to make them the default?

One possible place is in the config file under global_appearance_file or the maybe even system_colors_file .. I am not 100% sure how it gets input. Our corporate office is doing all that maintenance now. I think it used to be in the loadpoint text directory. Now we have a common directory on each person's machine an and the dmt file is copied there by corporate maintenance scripts once per week. Do a search from your loadpoint for *.dmt you will find all the wood glass and plastic libraries. You may see an appearance.dmt file that is small only with the single white color. Replace that with the one I sent and it may work also.

I found this in my config it points to the spot that contains my appearance.dmt file. I also found this color.map (attached) in the same directory.

Set this in your config.pro file to point to the FOLDER that contains the color.dmt file.

This is taken from the Fundamentals Help Topic Collection guide for WF3.

You can define appearances for a material using the Appearance tab in the
Material Definition dialog box. The names of the material appearances that are
associated with a material are stored in the material definition file, that is, the file
with a .mtl extension. Information about material appearances is stored in the
global.dmt file. The default location of the global.dmt file is
\<loadpoint>\graphic-library\appearances. However, you can set the
global_appearance_file configuration option to a path that points to a different
global.dmt file. This file takes precedence over the global.dmt file in the default
location.

You can also use appearance.dmt not just color.dmt files. Attached is a Zip with a bunch of color/appearance files. Have fun.

You should be able to copy your old syscol.scl file from your previous working directory and paste it into your Creo2 working directory. Set your config.pro setting for system_colors_file "your new path for the file" and you should be set.


Here is how I set my color map in Creo2 for new colors.


Select "File, Options"
